By Bolly teamPublished 3 min read
The flying Tesla Roadster meme is a wave of jokes and AI-made clips showing a Roadster flipping or flying over traffic, and this Instagram reel by @designer_shakil puts one driver in the seat with a "Day 1 of owning a Tesla Roadster" caption. Bolly's template lets you swap yourself in from a single photo.

The memes followed Tesla's demo of its new Roadster at a SpaceX test site in McGregor, Texas. According to Tesla showed a Roadster driving upside down and "flying"—X users responded with memes (opens in a new tab), the car appeared to fly and drive upside down, and X users responded with memes right away. Tesla's flying car is here, and so are the memes (opens in a new tab) describes the car taking off, doing a kickflip over a line of cars and landing on the other side.
People then made their own versions. Typical setups have the Roadster leaping over traffic, police cars or slow left-lane drivers. Launching Laughs: Tesla Roadster Memes Take Off on X (opens in a new tab) and Flippin' Sweet! (opens in a new tab) cover the joke wave on X. A related joke, covered in Flying cars arrived before GTA 6 (opens in a new tab), says we got flying cars before GTA 6.
The clip here is the original by @designer_shakil on Instagram (opens in a new tab). It uses the "Day 1 with a Tesla Roadster" caption style. Tesla Roadster AI Video Generator: Meme Prompts (opens in a new tab) offers copy-and-paste prompts for clips like this and frames them as AI parody, not real footage of what the car can do.
Tips for a good result
Use a photo with exactly one person in it. Your face should be clearly visible, front-facing and in good light. Avoid sunglasses, heavy shadows, hats that cover your forehead and group shots, since the template needs to know which face to use.
The clip shows a single person in the driver's seat, so a head-and-shoulders photo or a photo from the chest up works best. A face shot at a slight angle or a blurry selfie is more likely to look off once the car starts moving.
Bolly replaces the person in the clip and keeps the moves, the scene and the sound. The clip is 15 seconds, so you don't need to plan anything beyond picking the photo. Try the Flying Tesla Roadster Meme template when you're ready.
